Phew, time to break the half-year silence and to shrug off the dust from this blogs front-page. Hope you are all doing well and as I can see from the statistics tool, there are still plenty of people around. Enormous work-load and sluggishness prevented me from updating and posting to the blog in recent weeks and months, but right now there’s finally something worth writing about.
In less than 64 hours (yes I’m already counting in hours, if not minutes) I will be on a flight to southern Spain again to meet friends and finally fishing for bass again. It’s just a one week trip coming up, but besides going back to my favorite reservoirs up in the hills around Cordoba, my friend Enrique and I are attending to a small local tournament again on the 4th of October.
We already where on the list of participants last year at the end of September, but unluckily ended up on place 26 of 45 teams attending to the tournament called: Jamón, Jamón. Guess what the prices are all about?
After an exciting and bass-packed 10 day trip in April this year, I’m really looking forward to go back and try some new tactics and rigs. This time it will be all about finesse and wacky rigs (I hope, but you never know..), but I also stocked up on the usual suspects in recent weeks to make sure we have the right tools at hand in slightly more difficult conditions at this part of the season.

4lb UP bass on a weightless Zoom worm
Low water levels and rarely active, suspending bass where a curse last year, but there should be enough weapons around to tease even the most inactive ones lurking deep down in cover. In April I had some decent fish on wacky rigged worms, so I’m trying to give this discipline a bit more focus this time. I got hands on Deps’ Kincoos, Flickshakes and other worms in diverse sizes & colors and already prepared some rig types that felt promising beforehand.
I will also try to find more time for further testing the Japanese Topwater setup and handmade lures. Hope for some good catches at dawn and nightfall. * fingers crossed *
Enough tackle chit chat for now - there ‘ll be plenty of insights and stories to write about when back in Berlin. I’ll try to upload photos (will give HD Video a try too) every now and then and post some updates on Twitter during my trip.
Stay tuned and have a good and relaxing weekend!
