Just stumbled upon a note about the upcoming rod model by Evergreen published at the official Imakatsu Website. Posted at Katsutaka Imae’s ‘Top Secret’ blog, the short note already features sparse informations about the new line-up and pictures of a ‘Super Stallion’ that ‘ll complement the already existing TXFC68MH & TXFC69MH models.
I’m not really a friend of automated translation, but in this case I’ll try to derive the essential informations from the cryptic output delivered by these tools.
As it sounds (and looks at the provided product photos), the new Stallion model ‘ll be equipped with a big-sized full-length gripping section subdevided by a piece of carbon-like material just between real seat and for-grip. This seems to be the most obvious change in comparrison to it’s predecessors, but also the diameter of the blank looks slightly thicker than the ones applied to the existing models. Probably the “Super” in the product name refers to an increased lure-weight? Could be a meaningful enhancement to the existing Stallion & Stallion OTM sticks.

Imae also hints at the fact that “mass production is difficult” and the “Super Stallion” might become a strongly limited model. The price of this high-end addition to the Stallion models ‘ll be announced at the end of September, while the official release date of The ‘Super Stallion’ is sheduled for end of Oktober.
Even if this one is expected to be on the upper end of the price scale, I’m curious to get more details about the final product and if some of the other rods of the Crossfire line-up ‘ll undergo a similar rework. The new series brand “Kaleido” strongly hints at possible follow-up’s.

Just a quick update. The round profile reel on the last image is a “Pflueger 2800″. Further images & links: imakatsu.co.jp & ippei-m.cool.ne.jp
The low profile featured at one of the images in the post above got a little showcase on Imae’s Tops Secret section at imakatsu.co.jp.
I also found another note about one of the upcoming Kaleido rods. The “Super Cobra” - another “superized” stick from the Temujin Line-Up.
I’m still a bit confused as there are no infos about the “October Debut” available at the evergreen website…

Phew… it has been a long time in the coming, but the offical release of EG’s brand-new Kaleido series was announced at the official website friday last week.
Details and features of the “Super Stallion” look promising, but the price tag cools down first real feelings. Stated at about ¥76.000 - slightly more than 600 € - this stick is for sure one of the most pricey bass rods available.
I’m curious to see if the improvements of material and finishing can justify the price, but right now I’m far away from swapping my “basic” Stallion (which I really adore) against a superized one. Seems some sort of cost-performance analysis has to wait until some indefinite future date…
Images and specs are available at Evergreen-fishing.com.
Take care…
