Some blog news and a brief glimpse on forthcoming reviews and new features

It’s nearly a month since my last blog post, so I would like to apologize for the absence in recent days before giving you a rough update about current state of affairs. Besides slightly suffering from my daily work at the office, things are shaping up behind the scenes and I also found some time to start into the new season with some exciting fishing trips.

Two weeks ago I spent a few days at the sea-side and had two small trips through shallow inshore waters in the north-east of Germany. Besides concentrating on field tests of recently bought tackle and lures, main target was to catch some northern pikes while testing some big-baits and giving Evergreen’s Amazon Flip another go.

(Un)fortunately pikes are still not very active there at the moment, but schools of garpikes and a few mid-sized pikes made up for the lack of meter-sized “water wolfs”. The Bandersnatch-Alphas combo had a real “load test” during these days while a single Vision OneTen (color: “MG STARDUST SHAD”) made the difference and brought nearly 95%! of the caught fish.

Over the last weekend I found myself pleasantly surprised, by the outstanding performance of my ultra-light setup (EG’s Quad Twister paired with a Steez 103HL) that has proved a recipe for thrilling fights while beeing capalbe of putting even asps from 60 to 82cm in their place (even in really tough conditions). In this case Evergreen’s Super Sledge and Sledge 6/7SP put their ability to the test while proving a stunning (creative) potential, even though the durability of these lures was kind of unconvincing at the end.

As you already might expect, the forthcoming blogs and reviews ‘ll mainly focus on the tackle and lures I already mentioned above, but there ‘ll also be space for other tackle chit-chat. In addition to current field tests and related writings, I’m also working on some minor site improvements to increase the blogs usability and content structure.

Until then, stay tuned!
Christian
