It’s been a while since my last post, but Rome wasn’t built in a day and promising new tackle and baits doesn’t grow on trees (phrase stressing end). Since weeks I’m researching for the perfect combo that not only covers the lure spectrum gathering dust in my tackle boxes, but is also suitable for freshwater as well as light saltwater fishing.
After scouring the popular manufacturer websites and related forums, I decided to run another path and contacted a friend, who kindly introduced me to my namesake Christian - a true tackle and bait expert living in Spain.
The following exchange of informations and valuable insights was not only pleasing, but also higly informative and inspiring. After a brief glimpse in lure related characteristics, corresponding blank qualities and compiling a list of needs and requirements, he recommended Zenaq’s Spirado series. A versatile collection of perfectly crafted rods developed for black bass fishing.
Zenaq stands for top-notch manufacturing skills and their product range not only covers popular shore and off-shore tackle, but also a surprisingly consistent and versatile bass rod section that contains four finely adjusted series. These series are covering all established fields from ‘Systematic Game Fishing’ and ‘Big Bait Applications’ up to ‘Special purpose Rods’.

After deciding in favour of the Spirado series the B2.5-66 and B3-66 model made it right away to the top of my list (thanks for the recommendation and report, Christian). While the B2.5-66 ‘ll be the perfect ultra-light stick to be paired with one of the popular magnesium framed reels around, the B3 model features a more “all-around” approach. While still beeing a lightweight and well-balanced stick, the 1oz rod comes along with way more backbone than the B2.5 and makes it suitable for more agressive fishing and high-pressure conditions.

[...] Since a while I was looking for this reel on the known websites and auction platforms and it was kind of tricky to find one in mint or at least excellent+ condition. Most reels on offer had multiple scratches and tarnished stains, what underlines the fact, that the bare aluminum frame and clear plastic sideplate are really vulnerable to this kind of damages. Anyway… this morning I got one that looks really promising (at least on the provided photos), and even if it was at the more pricy end of the scale, I’m happy to get this well tuned and nice looking pice of reel manufaturing that is supposed to be the counterpart for the upcoming Spriado B2.5-66.
