Finally friday! If only the temperatures would rise about 10°C… The heck with it! Time for another journey to japanese tackle shops and manufacturer websites, in search of quirky baits for black bass fishing. With regard to the upcoming trip to Spain it was obvious to focus on useful crayfish plastics for carolina and texas rig.
While concentrating on the “japan domestic market” and crayfish-like creatures, popular brands like Deps, Imaktsu and Keitech are popping up immediately. So lets focus on these and have a look for some more unknown manufactures and their products afterwards.

Deps is providing a quite multifaceted range of effective soft baits in various forms, but the Deathadder Hog is the one to pick when it comes to crayfish imitations. Available as 3, 4 and 5 inch models and available in ~35 colors, it’s a highly versatile bait for texas, no sinker and carolina rig as well as a lively trailer for rubberjigs.
Similar in form and appearance, Imakatsu’s Dynagone features a slightly more detailed finish and way more sophisticated concept such as the adjustable leg action. Unfortunately these extras show up on the retail price, although the available 4 and 4.5 inch soft plastics may serve you better when used with no sinker and drop shot rigs.

Detailed informations about Keitech’s Bio Hog (3.5 and 4 inch sizes available) are hard to find, but I promise to post some more details when I finally found the time to test them. At least these well executed “Bio-Mix” plastics should be the first chioce for the “eco-friendly fisherman”… : )
Of course there are loads of crayfish plastics out there, that may do the job and which are worth mentioning. The following list of selected links should serve well as a reference for further research. Have fun…
